Brain Exercise


There are many long-term health benefits you can realize by engaging in brain exercise on a daily basis. Exercising your brain is just as important to your health as is exercising your body. Just as other parts of the body start to break down and wear out as you get older, so does your brain. When you exercise your brain you are increasing your level of mental alertness and helping to keep your memory in good shape.

Reading non-fiction is one way to exercise your brain as you learn about a new subject or person. You are never too old to learn something new, which is the focus of brain training and brain exercises.

If you don’t like reading there are other types of activities that will challenge you and exercise your brain. If you love to cook, for example, try a new recipe each day or every few days and if it doesn’t turn out right the first time, keep trying until you get it just right. How about veering from your schedule and picking up your groceries at a different supermarket and try to find your way around? You can also try to memorize your grocery list and then check before you reach the checkout to see how many of the items you remembered.

Games of all kinds are available, both free and for a price, that will give you hours of enjoyment as well as keep your brain in tip-top shape.
