Brain Exercise Why You Should Care


Brain exercise, also known as brain training, is good for anyone and everyone.  Whether you’re eight months old or eight decades young, exercises for the brain are helpful, healthful and provide a slew of benefits including:

  • Improving memory
  • Improving cognition
  • Improving your IQ
  • Slowing age memory loss
  • Retarding Alzheimer symptoms
  • Providing an enjoyable challenge and some much needed fun, relaxation and respite

Brain training is similar to any fitness program.  It’s best if done on a regular, scheduled basis and with determined commitment.  With physical exercise this isn’t always easy but with brain exercises it’s much easier to accomplish.  You don’t need special workout facilities, special workout gear or anything, really, other than the desire to improve your mind.  It only takes a few minutes a day and yet the results can be astounding.

WHY BOTHER?

Brain training exercises have been developed that can improve memory and concentration in a fun and challenging way.  Games to improve your brain function are certainly a more worthwhile pursuit than sitting if front of the boob tube all evening, letting it lull you into an empty sense of voyeuristic entertainment.  There’s nothing wrong with watching a little TV, but how about taking a few minutes out to do something that will actually positively affect your permanent sense of well being?  Effective brain exercise can do that!

Those suffering from age memory loss, perhaps, might be well off spending some time exercising their most important muscle – the one between the ears!  Even a five or ten minute a day brain fitness program will have permanent and positive results.  Anything requiring a specific point of concentration qualifies, really, whether it’s a simple crossword puzzle or a more challenging and mentally demanding game designed to improve memory or cognitive thinking.

There’s no disputing the fact that as we grow older our brain function begins to diminish.  Taking a few minutes out of each day in order to spend some time engaged in brain exercise will provide benefits not only today but also in your coming years.  There’s no reason why your brain training exercises need to be anything other than what you consider fun entertainment.  If it’s not fun, choose something else to hone your mental agility.  There are many options readily available, free of charge, so any excuse is bogus.  You can do it, you should do it, and your brain will thank you in more ways than one!
